Better Jobs Ontario (BJO)

Get skills training and financial support when you qualify for Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career).


The objective of the Better Jobs Ontario program is to support unemployed individual in need of skills training to help find employment in an in-demand occupations in Ontario.

Better Jobs Ontario provides eligible applicants with:

> skills training for in-demand jobs

> financial Support

You can apply for up to $28,000 for costs, including:

Tuition

Books

Transportation

Basic living allowance

up to $500 per week

Other instructional costs

student fees, supplies and electronic devices

Additional funding

may be available for childcare, disability-related supports, living away from home, Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) and/or language training

Better Jobs Ontario Initial Eligibility

> Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Conventional Refugee or CUAET Visa

> Have been laid-off and be unemployed, OR

> be from a low-income household AND unemployed for 6 months or longer

Meeting the initial eligibility requirements does not guarantee that you qualify for Better Jobs Ontario. You must be assessed by one of our Employment Specialists.
