Terminal Operators Assistant

Position Overview

The Terminal Operators Assistant will be responsible to assist in all loading and unloading of material received and shipped from the facility. The position will aid in the maintenance and monitoring of all equipment and property and will at all times comply with safe work practices & safe job procedures as well as ensuring the safety of all employees and visitors.

This is a full time seasonal position ranging from 25-40 hours per week during the spring, summer and winter.


  • Monitor and track incoming product and ensure delivery to proper storage tanks/locations
  • Perform and track scheduled maintenance on terminal equipment and machinery
  • Prepare and track terminal throughput and inventories via onsite computers
  • Maintain terminal record keeping regarding product quality, and QC testing of inventories and custom blends
  • Perform product testing with company product quality standards
  • Perform equipment calibrations and certifications according to guidelines laid out for terminal
  • Performing operational duties in accordance with the Terminal Operating Procedures Manual
  • Responding to emergencies 24/7 and maintaining emergency equipment
  • Completing mandated COR safety, hazardous materials and regulatory training
  • Maintain a clean facility both indoors and out
  • Monitoring and enforcing all safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other tasks as requested by Terminal Manager
  • Promote and support company image standards
  • Adhere to all regulations set forth and become familiar with Transport Canada policy and security procedures
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with team members and drivers to report and resolve problems and provide information as needed
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all accidents immediately


  • Must possess a valid Ontario’s driver’s license
  • Background in transportation industry is considered an asset
  • Excellent math and computer skills
  • Able to lift and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds and able to climb ladders and stairs (up to 21 meters)
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Available to work a rotating shift, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays. Available to respond to callouts during off hours
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Magnesium and Calcium Chloride solutions and there applications considered an asset
  • Able to operate a loader/skid steer
