Second Career

The Government of Ontario is helping laid-off workers get back to work through the Second Career program launched by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD). You may  be qualify to receive up to $28, 000 or more in some cases.

How Second Career Works

The Second Career grant can pay for expenses such as:

  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Living expenses
  • Travel and transportation
  • Disability supports
  • Dependent(s) care
  • Other living and training costs

Second Career Initial Eligibility

  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Residence or Conventional Refugee
  • Laid-off on or after January 1, 2005
  • Unemployed, underemployed or working less than 20 hours per week?
